Gola del Furlo
We start this Videorace in the perfectly-preserved medieval town of Urbino, a UNESCO heritage site.
After a brief flat warmup to Fossombrone, we climb up the Cesane, part of the “Straducale” (Grand Fondo of Urbino) as well as part of the approach towards the "Dolomites" in the 2009 Giro d’Italia. This climb is 7 km long with a max slope of 17%.
From here, we descend to the stunning paradise of natural beauty that is the Gola del Furlo, where the Candigliano river flows through the towering rock walls of its canyon.
After leaving the nature reserve, we finish our ride on a dirt road passing through Val d’Abisso, finally reaching our ultimate destination of Piobbico.
