Sella di Razzo (2018 Restyling)
Crossing the Cadore, we warm up both our muscles and mind for the ride ahead as we enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the mildly-downhill initial section. We pass Auronzo near St. Catherine lake.
After about 15 km we take a sharp turn to the left where we start to climb towards Laggio di Cadore.
Shortly after the village we enter the forest and begin the hard climb towards Passo Ciampigotto, which is part of the 11th stage of the Giro d'Italia 2013, (Distance: 11.5 Km, 776 hm Slope: Max=14.9% Avg=6.7%). Towards the end the climb it gets really tough, with long stretches of nearly 15%.
Throughout the climb we do not find any vehicles and one gets the impression of being in another era.
Finally at the top, the view opens to large pastures and great Alpine peaks on the horizon.
After a brief downhill, a moderate climb leads to the Sella di Razzo. From there, a spectacular descent brings us by the green meadows of Sauris and after passing its green lake, we navigate the narrow gorge that leads to Ampezzo where the race ends.
