The Col du Soulor is a mountain pass in the Pyrenees which is accessible by three main routes: from Argelès Gazost, from Col de l'Aubisque (but you get pretty much a downhill) and from Ferrieres.
In this race we suggest the best route, the route from Ferrieres in the valley Ouzom.
The race starts from Bielle, we ride for several kilometers of ups and downs in the French countryside. The traffic is non-existent, the landscape relaxing. Once in Asson we continue along the valley Ouzom. The road is getting closer to Ferrieres, old mining center. After a sharp bend outside the village of Ferrières, the road narrows and rises quickly in the woods. The slope is regular with some steep sections. The more you go, the more the trees give way to green pastures and finally to the open space. Past the pass, we face the descent to Arrens-Marsous where the race ends.

The 'Col du Soulor', the 'Cauterets-Cambasque' and the 'Hautacam', for me are day two of the 'Tour de Pyrénées' (Day one: 'Col de la Pierre St. Martin' and 'Col de Marie-Blanque'). The 'Col du Soulor' is the first of three long and steep climbs. After riding through a long valley, the terrain starts to rise after about 13 k and the 'real' climb starts at about 38 k with gradients up to 13%. From there on it takes about 10 k of climbing to get to the summit. The landscape is absolutely awsome, but does not really distract you from the pain in your legs. The RLV ends with the first part of the descent to the 'Cauterets-Cambasque'. Excellent video quality.
