Col du Glandon
This challenging ride takes place on a beautiful sunny day. We start from Le Bourg d'Oisans in the direction of Grenoble along the Romanche . A Rochetaillée turn right , cross the Romanche on the Pont Rouge and take the Route de Savoie.
10 km After a short climb brings us to the Barrage du Verney. Still some easy chilometers interrupted by a short climb ( 14 km) before the junction for Vaujany . Passed Pont Rattier ( 15 km ) the climb to the Col du Glandon and the Croix de Fer begins. In the first km climb the slopes are 10% , then settle at around 7% . After La Grange d' Articol ( 18 km ) gradients share constant at 10 % up to Le Rivier d' Allemont (km 21). Flat stretch to overcome the country and then steep descent to the bridge over the Eau d' Olle (km 24). At this point 13 km left to the Col du Glandon and the road starts to climb again. Here the slopes are severe (13%) , we still breath when crossing the Eau d' Olle , and then again with slopes between 6 and 9% . At km 30 we begin to see the dam that forms the Lac de Grand Maison . Along the lake the ascent becomes easy with some flat or slightly downhill stretch . At km 34 begins the last part of the climb , there are only 2.5 kilometers to get to the hill with a slope of 6-9 % . At km 37 we arrive at the Col du Glandon , the view of the surrounding mountains is gorgeous. The climb is almost 22 km long with an elevation gain of almost 1,300 m (6 % on average) and maximum gradients of 13% . We begin our descent towards Saint Etienne de Cuines , narrow but beautiful , wonderful landscape. Arrived in the Maurienne valley we ride the last 15km of the race in the direction of Saint Martin de La Porte where the race ends.
